Olympic Valley, CA

Katelyn & Chris

We are very excited to share our love of the mountains (and each other :) with you as we gather at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Olympic Valley, CA for our wedding. Olympic Valley is located in North Lake Tahoe, between Truckee and Tahoe City and was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics.

Lodging

PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn

PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn is where the ceremony and reception will take place. There is a wedding block with group rates.

To make a reservation with the wedding rate, call reservations at (800) 323-7666 and ask to book a room in the “Noderer / Streeter” block.

Note: PlumpJack normally does not do single night reservations, but are willing to do Saturday night only for us but you must book with Rob. Do note that check-in is at 4pm, and they cannot guarantee that you'll be able to get into your room before then (unless it is empty and cleaned) which means you probably can't get ready in your room.

Other Accommodations in Olympic Valley

Olympic Valley is small, but there are a couple of other nearby hotels that are all walkable:

The Village at Squaw Valley

The Squaw Valley Lodge

The Red Wolf Lodge

There are also a fair number of rentals available through Airbnb or VRBO

Truckee and Tahoe City

There are lots of places to stay in nearby historic Truckee and closer to the lake in Tahoe City. Uber does exist in North Lake Tahoe, but expect it to cost upwards of $40 each way.

Camping

Who doesn't love a good campsite? If you are feeling adventurous, there are several campgrounds nearby. Just outside Olympic Valley, along the Truckee River, is Silver Creek Campground which has walk up sites starting October 1st. Closer towards Truckee are Goose Meadows and Granite Flat, both of which also offer walk up sites.

Next to Lake Tahoe are William Kent Campground and Sugar Pine Point State Park both of which take reservations.

Transportation

Reno-Tahoe Airport

Olympic Valley is 45 minutes from Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO flights). Shuttle service is available through North Lake Tahoe Express. The cost is $45 per person, one-way or $85 round trip. Discounts are available for groups of 3 or more.

Sacramento Airport

Sacramento's Airport (SMF flights) is about two hours away from Olympic Valley. We couldn't find any shuttles so if you fly into SMF you'll need to rent a car.

San Francisco / Oakland

San Francisco and Oakland (SFO and OAK flights) airports are even farther away. They're about 3.5 hours (without traffic) to Olympic Valley and would most likely require a car rental. The upside is that there are more flight options and you get to see our home town.
